New at Brownells, the FM Products 9mm Side Charging Upper Receivers
The Foxtrot Mike 9mm Side Charging Upper Receiver mounts to Glock® magazine compatible lower receivers. The upper has a non-reciprocating charging handle located on the top left of the handguard, much like an MP5. When not in use, the charging handle folds down to avoid snagging on gear or apparel. The included handguard features M-LOK attachments on the sides & bottom, and a full length Picatinny rail on top. The 4150 steel, nitrided barrel is chambered in 9x19 with a 1-10" twist & 1/2-36 muzzle threads. Includes nitride bolt carrier group.

That 10.5" looks really cool.
Any videos showing the components in more detail? |
|
Fixed the video above, hopefully that addresses what you're looking for.
|
|
Would this work with other Glock 9mm lowers? (I've got a PSA one)
Also is there enough barrel sticking out of the handguard on the 10.5" one for me to attach my Osprey suppressor? |
|
This is very interesting. Looking forward to updates and reviews from users.

Yes it is designed to work with all Glock lowers, Quarter Circle, PSA and New Frontier. They are shown being used for testing on FM-Products.com More info on FB too

Lots of videos of testing, accuracy, etc on FB and FM-Products.com
They were designed to run with all ammo, and will eat steel or aluminum ammo. Did testing supressed w subsonic here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qD5dBl7T38 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u15GMb21kWM |

We offer a 10.5" as it is the optimal length for accuracy. We will do a 7", if there is demand for it.

I like it so far. Just need to get out to shoot it more.
Here is my thread on buying it a few weeks ago. Foxtrot mike AR9 upper... |

We have already had some interest for 7" Uppers, so I guess its going to happen.
|

Had about a dozen people in 2 days ask for Colt compatible Uppers. We are looking into what needs to be changed now, and will advise when I know more. Thanks for the feedback.

@Backbender, agreed, limping along right now. They are in the process of setting one up now, and you are right about the cost...

Im dying over here...
Old people, not getting simple concepts, since the dawn of time. Pretend you are showing your Grandma how to use a remote. That will help a lot. |

Works. FYI, your pictures won't display until you have 50 posts, so don't panic when they don't display.

So why don't these work with Colt lowers? (the cuts on the bottom of the BCG?)
|
|
I was tired of waiting for PSA to get more 9mm uppers in stock so after FMP posted links to the videos and more info I ordered one from Brownells. Should get here Saturday.

Few reasons, the Colt places the magazine a good distance form the chamber. It can be done, and its pretty straight forward to modify the BCG to run on a Colt Lower. We are in the process of seeing if we can get it to run as well as they do with Glock lowers. Couple Colt Lowers were ordered and we will provide updates as we figure it out. If we cant get it to run as well as the Glock style, it may be a no go. We can run steel or aluminum cased ammo all day, every day with the current design.

We have 2 proprietary triggers we have installed and ran in our rifles, also any GI trigger also works fine. I cant confirm that all "drop in style" triggers will work yet, as we have not test fit all of them. https://www.flickr.com/photos/156904015@N04/36033582156/in/dateposted-public/ View Quote Slideshow-03-v3-Hybrid-FCG by FOXTROT MIKE PRODUCTS, on Flickr" /> |

It seemed to bind or drag when I cycled it by hand. Have since switched back to the stock (USGI I figure) trigger in the PSA lower and it cycles much smoother. A few other questions and comments @FMP How do I flip the forward charging handle to the right side? edit/update: Took the handguard off so I could easily take the muzzle device off for my can (looks great BTW, see below), then saw that the charging handle was actually a small set screw accessed from the front of the handguard. The little triangular flip up where the USGI charging handle comes out is not retained by my PSA Glock 9mm lower. It looks like it would be retained by your designed lower, but my PSA doesn't come up high enough there to stop it from flipping up. Maybe less than 1/16". Also FMP, any plans for a .45 version of the side charger? Once my dad saw this one he wants an AR pistol in .45 with your side charging upper. quick picture of the whole thing: |

If Brownells doesnt send you a buffer, I will get you sorted. I will send you an IM with my email, and take care of it.
We tested a lot of triggers and didnt see it binding the carrier. We did see a lit of flowers with Ejectors with a wide range of specs as far as height. Pull the charging handle rearward, while you look in the extraction port. If there is a little interference as the carrier slides over the ejector, it will go away after its shot a but. Some kiss the top of the ejector with a dremel. The "Trap Door" is mainly there to capture the carrier, and material used works well to keep the blow back gasses in the rifle, and not in your face. It is designed with an interference fit, and wont rotate during use. We may consider modifying the mold to make the little dog leg longer to address your feedback. We have a video outlining how to swap the charging handle over. Use locktite on the set screw, and get it snug. Tell your dad we will have one coming online in September. Thanks for the post, we appreciate the feedback. |

You may want to get a BAD Lever, then you can lock the bolt back with your trigger finger. Its a nice addition, I have it on my Circle 10 build.
|
|
Curious to see a pic with the hand guard removed.
Wondering how the charging handle mounts really. |
|
You take a long reach 3/16 allen key, and insert in front of handguard, loosen the screw, slide out the handle and put it in the other side, then lock down the screw again. Video will be up shortly once it is done being editied.

Anyone else have any experience with these to share? I am particularly interested in the 10" upper.
